About 300 health workers including County Health Supervisors, Pharmacists, Monitoring and Evaluation Officers, County Health Officers and other clinicians have completed grant start-up workshops organized by Plan International Liberia for the new Global Fund grant to continue the malaria interventions for the period July 2018 to June 2021.

The workshops took place in August, 2018 in 4 counties of the program intervention including a central level one which was held in Monrovia.

During these workshops, the Liberia Coordinating Mechanism (LCM) of the Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria provided oversight to help guide and provide clarity on issues of the approved grant.

Plan International Country Office and expat facilitators made presentations on Plan International Liberia values and principles including mainstreaming of gender equality and child and youth safeguarding in the Malaria program activities in Bomi, Nimba, Lofa, and Margibi, the four counties targeted by the project.

Presentations on the compliance, given that the grant is performance based, were also delivered during the various grant startup workshops.

The new Global Fund grant builds on the success of the first phase of the intervention, which started in 2016 to 2018.
